Bean bags / "Pasulj"-vrećice

A bean bag is simply a bag that is filled with beans or other similar materials and sealed. There are many different sizes and shapes of bean bags, flat or 3D.
In my opinion bean bags are a great toy for kids of all ages: they are cheap to buy, easy to make, and there are dozens of games that can be played with them - indoors or outdoors, and, what is more important, kids can invent new games and ways to play with them! Similar to a ball - a toy with endless possibilities!
With a little help of grandma J (who is a sewist extraordinaire!), I made these simple pyramid bean bags (using this tutorial), which V immediately named 'little mountains'. Initially, they were intended to be a toy for baby Z, but we all ended playing with them, even our guests.

So, how is this 'toy' used? V loves to throw them into a basket from a distance, but also
loves to throw them in the air and then catch them. He also uses them in his imaginative plays for making different mini scenes. And baby Z? She loves to put them on her head, in the mouth, shake them and roll them.

A beba Z?

Bean bags are mostly used in games that develop gross motor skills such as  toss and catch games, balancing games or juggling. Different types of bean bags such as alphabetcolornumber, shape or scented (filled with aromatic herbs) bean bags are used for introducing and practicing these concepts and qualities.
You can find more about bean bag games here and here.

We have just made bean bags with the kids at preschool (not as beautiful as yours though!) so this post was timely for me. Thanks for sharing with us on the It's Playtime link up.

Lovely bean bags! I should make some for my 6-month old. I'm sure she would love them! Different colors and shapes would be great!
